Our client is a well establish Irish owned business within the building industry. They are seeking to appoint a Financial Controller who will report to the Managing Director. This role is involved in overseeing the finance function for the group and leading a small finance team.
The successful candidate will have full responsibility for multiple group companies; monthly reporting and in managing cash flow on a daily basis and bank reconciliation. Requires in-depth knowledge of the entire finance function. This role is hands-on and support in all areas of finance.
Duties will include:
- Oversee financial reporting and preparation of month-end file
- Monthly management accounts preparation with analysis
- Statutory accounts preparation and compliance
- Tax Compliance
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Lead and develop finance team
- Managing the audit process
- Oversight of system upgrade
- Liaise with external IT providers for development and testing of new processes
- Manage external relationships
- Cash management including cashflow forecasts weekly, focusing on debtor and creditor payments complete daily bank reconciliations for the group.
- Ability to set up new processes and controls where required
- Review and management of debtors and creditors reconciliations
- Fixed asset register maintenance
- Attend and present at monthly board meetings
- Review and improve finance policies, procedures and controls
- Project and ad-hoc work
The Person:
- Qualified accountant with 5+ years in a similar role
- Experience of working in a hands-on role in an SME
- Experience in building/construction industry would be beneficial
- Excellent organizational skills/ability to prioritize work
- Good interpersonal skills
- Results orientated
- Proven track record in introducing process improvements
- Excellent communication, customer care and people management skills
- Excellent planning, organisational and leadership skills
- Strong IT experience, Intact accounting software experience would be preferable
