If you take time away from your career to travel, care for a relative, or stay at home to raise a family, you can think more objectively about it. Considering putting my own daughter in childcare/creche made my wife and I assess whether a job is something you want, can do mentally, physically, and financially. (Your life really does get turned upside down when the responsibility and priority of a dependent child arrives in your life) It is possible to discover that your interests, career choices, and financial independence have evolved as a mother/father and that your previous job/industry does not fit with your family lifestyle anymore.
Don’t be afraid to make that change. As we get older it becomes more and more important that the work, we do has meaning. Don’t get stuck in a rut, do what makes you happy! Don’t let fear stop you from making the change.
